March 22, 2021. Put out from Fate Sanders Marina at 8:00 AM. This father and son had booked a trip earlier in the month when the water was high and I recommended they reschedule to this week when I knew the fishing would be better. Returned to the same spot I fished Tuesday and spotted even larger schools of Hybrids and Whites on my Garmin Livescope. We started off vertical jigging Bink's Pro Series Spoons and caught our limit of Hybrids in 30 minutes. Once the wind picked up, we began trolling and started catching bigger Hybrids. Two of the Hybrids were pushing 7 pounds and 4 others were in the 4-5 pound rage. The son was so amazed at the number and size of the fish he caught, he asked if he could sign on as a guide for The Reel Deal Guide Service. Check my Pro Fishing Reports for the details of todays catch.
March 20, 2021. Took three of my best friends, David Webber, Lee Allen, and Carl Springer, out today for a relaxed, no pressure day of catching fish. Headed to the same spot I fished yesterday and when we arrived there were 7 boats already there. Guess people are reading my Pro Fishing Reports. We caught 20+ Hybrids and 5 White Bass vertical spooning Bink's Spoons and trolling. Photo above was a triple caught trolling. It was a beautiful day to be on the water with friends. Took procession of my Fate Sanders Marina boat slip and boat lift today. Going to be great not having to haul my boat to and from the lake every day. Also will be nice having a place to clean my customers' fish. God has blessed me with the opportunity to make a living as a fishing guide. The best part of this job is making anglers dreams come true, bringing families and friends closer together, and influencing the next generation of anglers.
March 19, 2021. Two cousins who hunt together were tired of eating red meat and wanted some white meat for a change. They came to the right guide. Was planning go back back to Smith Springs today until I got a call from Bobby Davis who was fishing for bass near Anderson Recreation Area. He told me that the Hybrids were all over the area and asked me to clear them out of there. As soon as we arrived, we dropped our Bink's Spoons and immediately had Hybrids on. My clients caught their limit of Hybrids in the first 30 minutes. They had a ball catching them on light spinning rods. By the end of the day, they caught 40 Hybrids (2-3 lb avg), 16 nice White Bass, and 2 Crappie and went home with a mess of white meat. Check out my TRDGS Live Pro Fishing Reports Facebook page for the live broadcast I made today. You will be amazed at the Livescope views of the Hybrids.
April 18, 2021. Conner and Alex Gordan took their father Scott on a Hybrid catching trip for his birthday today. I could barely see the front of my boat because of heavy fog at 7 AM, so my clients fished for Bass around Fate Sanders Marina. After catching two nice largemouths, we headed down lake hunting some Hybrids. After catching a couple of Hybrids trolling, I dropped the Livescope and spotted schools of Hybrids below the boat. My clients caught 30+ Hybrids and 5 White Bass jigging Bink's Pro Series Spoons. What a great Birthday gift: spending the day with your sons and catching fish with them. The Hybrid bite is back and I know exactly where they are, so book your trip soon. I have very few openings left in April and May. Book Now! For more details of this catch, see my Pro Fishing Reports.
April 10, 2021. Put out at Fate Sanders Marina at 6:00 AM with a husband and wife team. Being avid kayakers they were treated to some standup fishing in my big red G3 boat. The morning started with some medium to heavy rain but my clients stayed dry under my DOWCO Bimini top and windshield. Once the rained stopped, I put them on a huge school of White Bass and they proceeded to catch 60+ in the period of a hour. They were able to place their Bink's Pro Series Spoons right in the fish's face using my Garmin 12" Chartplotter and Panoptix Livescope. I sat in my Captain's chair, watched their spoons on my 9" Garmin Chartplotter, and coached them on when the fish were about to hit their spoons. After we returned to the marina, to top off the day, both enjoyed a cold beer and chicken tenders at Hoppy's Harbor Grill.
April 9, 2021. I’m all healed up and back on the lake! Covered a lot of water yesterday and today scouting for the big Hybrids with my new TRDGS Guide David Webber. Yesterday saw a lot of other guides up in West Fork catching small White Bass but all my customers want to catch the big Hybrids. We finally found a huge school of Hybrids and White Bass. They they seemed to be starving and were very aggressive. The lake is still high but coming down. This has caused the big Hybrids and White bass to spread out. The water clarity is good and the fish will be feeding this weekend. I will be on the lake all day Saturday and Sunday. Check my Pro Fishing Reports so you can go right to the fish this weekend! Or Just look for my big Red G3 boat.

March 26, 2021. This morning, Danny Crockett's two clients visiting from Chicago, caught 4 Largemouths, 5 Smallmouth, and a Hybrid using several different baits and techniques. The lake was surprisingly clear considering the heavy rains we had last night. Go to our Pro Fishing Reports to read about the baits and techniques Danny had his clients used to catch all these bass.
On his trip today, William Brown caught 35 Crappie Keepers in 5 hours of trolling double-rigged, bobber planers up lake. Check out our Pro Fishing Reports on the details where you can get the bobber planers and see photos of how he double-rigs jigs on the planers. Also find out the three locations where he caught Crappie.
March 22, 2021. My new Crappie Guide, William Brown, took two of his close friends fishing today and caught over 100 Crappie and 54 keepers. He started trolling bobber planers and caught about 50 Crappie. He made a move and caught about 50 more trolling his custom-rigged bobber planers. They caught fish continuously for four hours. The Crappie fishing will continue to be hot for at least another two weeks. Book a trip now while the bite is hot. At the requests from several of our Pro Fishing Reports (PFRs) subscribers, we have created an entire PFR section devoted to where to obtain his Crapping-catching bobber planers and how William double-rigs these innovative planers. March 20, 2021. The Reel Deal Guide Service's new guide Danny Crockett and his partner Robby Ervin, fished the All City Bass Tournament on Tims Ford yesterday and took 2nd place with just under 15 pounds (3 Smallmouths and 2 Largemouths. First place had 18 pounds of Bass. The last time Danny fished Tims Ford was 25 years ago. The conditions on Tims were the same as Percy Priest, water level up and dirty. The water temperature was 52-56 degrees. Danny fished A-Rigs making long casts, letting the A-Rig drop to the bottom, and slow-rolling it back to the boat. He caught fish all day using this technique. Tims Ford is loaded with not only hoards of Smallmouth and huge Largemouths but also giant Strippers and Hybrids.
March 19, 2021. David has been fishing for over 40 years and truly believes there is no lake that compares to Percy Priest. He was born in Kentucky where his Grandfather took him fishing in Kentucky and taught him the art of catching Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass. He moved to Colorado as a teenager and, being in trout fishing country, he began fly fishing and started a guide service in Steamboat Springs. Later he purchased his first boat and fished many lakes including Lake Fork, TX, Sam Rayburn, TX, and Dale Hallow, TN. He has made annual trips to Canada for Small Mouth Bass. Daniel helped move he and his wife to Tennessee and they became close friends. He has fished with Daniel Brown at least 60 times and has become an expert at catching Hybrids.

March 16, 2021. The Reel Deal Guide Service's new guide, William Brown solidified our claim that he is one of the best Crappie guides on Percy Priest Lake. Knowing his reputation as a Crappie guide, two of William's closest friends, Scutty and Evert, asked him to help them catch a mess of Crappie to eat for supper. He exceeded their expectation by putting them on the Crappie this morning! They caught a total of 76 Crappie with 35 keepers. That should be enough for supper the rest of the week. If you like catching and eating Crappie, then book a trip with William. He is a master at loading the boat with Slabs! To find out were he caught this mess of Slabs and what technique and which bait he used, go to our Pro Fishing Reports.
March 7, 2021. My customer today, Chaplin Scot Henry (Lieutenant Colonel Retired, USAF) was given this trip by his wife and daughter for his 68th birthday. The Chaplin's awesome wife arranged for Tim Hollis, an USAF veteran, to be his fishing partner. These two zoomies met for the first time on this trip. We put out of Fate Sanders Marina at 7:00 AM and headed to the same spot I fished yesterday. My Garmin Livescope confirmed that the fish were still at my spot, so I started my Thumper and dropped a Bink's Pro Series Spoon to demonstrate the jigging technique and immediately caught a fish. They caught over 60 fish and went home with 45 keepers. This was the most fish they had caught in their life. Go to my Pro Fishing Reports to find out the location of my spot.
March 12, 2021. Launched out of Fate Sanders Marina this morning at 6 AM with Doug Ritch, visiting Nashville from Danville, Virginia, on a house hunting trip. We started fishing Stewart's Creek for Crappie. Caught 2 keepers and a lot of small ones. Made a move to Fall Creek and caught 8 keepers. Got the word that the big Crappie were biting at Spring Creek, so we made another move. When we arrived at Spring Creek, there were at least 10 boats already there and no room for my boat. Considering he had an 8 hour drive back home, my customer decided to continue the trip on his return trip to Nashville. He left with a cooler full of 10 nice Crappie. Check our Pro Fishing Reports to find out what we were using to catch them.
March 11, 2021. Started my first trip at 6:00 AM and headed down lake to the spot we caught them yesterday. My down scan showed hundreds of Hybrids. Started trolling and caught 50 nice Hybrids in a period of 2 1/2 hours. Returned to Hoppy's Harbor Grill and ate breakfast. Started my second trip at 11:00 AM. My customer wanted some training on my Garmin Panoptix Livescope so we headed up lake, located the Whites, started the Thumper, and proceeded to catch 10 White Bass in 30 minutes on Bink's Pro Series Spoons. We then moved back down lake and started trolling for Hybrids. They were still there and we caught 26 of them. Check my Pro Fishing Reports for the locations of our catches and the baits we used. Tune in to Southern Woods and Waters tonight for my call-in fishing report.
March 10, 2021. Put out at Fate Sanders Marina at 5:40 AM on a re-do trip for a Mt Juliet First Responder. Went down lake, put out 5 rods, and started trolling. Caught our first fish just as the sun came up. Then the insanity began. At times we had fish on three of the rods at one time. In a period of 2 1/2 hours, we caught approximately 70 Hybrids, 30 over 5 pounds. My hip surgery is at 8:00 AM on Friday and the doctor told me that I will not be able to fish for 4-6 weeks. I have health insurance but it will not cover all the cost. I'm staring at a huge medical bill. If you plan on booking a trip with me when I get back on the water, would appreciate if you could book it now. Also consider booking a trip with William Brown. I will coaching him on all his Hybrid trips from my walker at home. I'll be Back!
March 9, 2021. Steve Martin and Nick Martin, a father and son team, were my customers this morning. William Brown, our new guide, accompanied me on the trip to gain some experience catching Whites and Hybrids. We returned to the same spot that I've fished the last three days and the White Bass were still there. We were joined 3 other boats. Their Captains read my Pro Fishing Reports which gave them the exact location of my Honey Hole. My customers proceeded to catch 60 White Bass on Bink's Pro Series Spoons almost non-stop for 2 hours. When my customers arms gave out, we made a move down lake and started trolling for Hybrids. After catching 10 Hybrids, 3 weighing 5 lbs, we headed back to the marina. This was a catch and release day. Sign up for my Pro Fishing Reports and meet me at my Honey Hole.
